stock recap: Monday Dec.13

Kodiak Oil and Gas just keeps trucking along. KOG closed today at $6.48, up .24 cents on 6.7 million shares traded. KOG was downgraded by Northland Securities on Friday. I guess they are sensing a pull back coming after a nice run up from around $2.50 a share since September. Not a bad return!

Rollins Inc (ROL), had a 3:2 split today, ROL closed at $19.37 on 469k shares traded. The pest and termite control services company has a 1.20% dividend.

RPC Inc (RES), an oil and gas services company, also had a 3:2 split today to close at $20.91 on 1.577 million shares traded. RES also announced a 16.7 percent increase to its quarterly cash dividend from $.06 to $.07 per share payable on Friday Dec.10 on pre-split shares to those who owned the stock recorded on Nov.10.

Glu Mobile (GLUU) has been a favorite of mine in the past, I still like them and the take-over play on this one I think has merit...but I guess we will see. GLUU closed today at $1.90, down $.02 on light volume, about 130k shares.

Carriage Services Inc (CSV), is a leading provider of death care services in the U.S. I know, not the most glamorous of businesses, but they are recession proof. They announced their third acquisition in southern California this year when they bought White's Funeral Home. CSV is rather thinly traded on the NYSE with an average of 27k per day. CSV closed up $.04 to $4.74 today on a thin 13k shares traded.

I usually look for small-cap stocks that don't get much attention, and if you read enough here you will find them. I figured I should write about them a little and share what I find, there are so many out there and I know people would like to at least have a few ticker symbols to study that they would otherwise probably never heard about. Hope I can be of some help to those who are constantly on the hunt for the next big one...
